Maple Holistics Lemon Degrease Shampoo

Rating: 5 skull

Maple Holistics has done it again!  They’ve created another wonderful natural shampoo.  This shampoo is sulfate free and can be used to help reduce/eliminate itching caused by dandruff or build up of products on your scalp.

This shampoo is great!  It leaves my hair feeling clean and fresh.  I don’t wash my hair every day.  I cleanse it maybe 2-3 times a week.  I really can see what this shampoo can do.  By day three my hair is quite greasy and this shampoo cuts the grease quite nicely.  I have curly/wavy thin hair that tangles easily.  I have to use a conditioner on my hair when I cleanse it.  Using this shampoo along with my regular conditioner leaves my hair feeling amazing for a couple of days!

I would recommend this shampoo to anyone who has greasy or oily hair.  It also works well for reducing itching.  This is the second product from Maple Holistics that I have tried.  The other product I tried is their Sage Anti-dandruff shampoo.  I also recommend this product.  I can’t wait to try more from them.

Welcome to another product review.  Today we are reviewing Natrogix High Potency Vitamin D3 supplement.  This product is available for purchase on Amazon at Click Here.

I want to say that I’m impressed with the fact that these are daily dose vitamins that come in a container with 360 servings.  For the price of $10.99 (single ship) or $10.44 (recurring shipping), these are a great deal.    These supplements contain 2,000 IU of Vitamin D3 which is 500% of your Daily Value.

These are best taken by individuals who have a hard time acquiring enough Vitamin D through sunlight.  Since I work from home, have light skin, and I don’t get out much these are perfect for me.

I loved that they are tiny, making them easy to swallow and easy to fit into a medicine tray. The fact that they are soft gels mean they will absorb better into my system for use.  I have a very fast digestive system so liquid, gummies, and soft gels work best for me.   It’s much more difficult for my body to break down tablets/caplets and I may miss some of the benefits as they pass through my system.

I like the packaging.  It’s easy to read with some contrasting colors to drive your eyes to particular parts of the bottle.  They also have great purchase options.  You can buy 1, 3, or 6 bottles.  You can set up auto-ship to receive these supplements monthly, 2 months, 3 months, 4 months, 5 or 6 months.  You can also elect to make this a one-time purchase.

*I advise you speak to your doctor before starting any vitamin regimen.**

Amtok Beard Shaping Tool

Rating: 4 Skulls for visual 3 Skulls for non-visual.

 for non-visual

The Amtok Beard Shaping Tool is an interesting gadget for any well-groomed man.   It is a clear piece of hard plastic that is specifically shaped to allow you to groom your beard at home without going to the barber.  It features different angles, combs, and guides to help you shape the perfect beard.   The edges are contoured to allow you to guide your razor smoothly.

We decided to do a video review for this product.  Our perspective on this tool is different from others you may have seen or read.  Rufo is a visually impaired bearded individual.  He has never used a tool like this before.   He typically maintains his beard himself based on touch.

On initial review we liked the packaging it was interesting but the envelope was a bit difficult for Rufo to open.  I liked the instructions and tips as they were very helpful.  Unfortunately, Rufo is unable to read these due to the small print but we understand this is geared more toward visual users.  We liked that the tool was made of plastic and flat making it easy to clean and store.

Adbama Natural Silk Sleep Mask with Adjustable Strap

2

Rating: 5 out of 5 Skulls

If you are like me and you have trouble sleeping unless it’s totally dark you may want to try this sleep mask!  It’s comfortable, soft, and silky.  It’s adjustable.  It also comes with earplugs if you need to block out sounds.  They look to be good quality.  I do better with sound and it’s for me it’s very uncomfortable to wear ear plugs for extended periods of time.  This eye mask also comes in a nice plastic zippered pouch making it great for travel.

Viva Naturals Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

Rating: 5 out of 5 Skulls

Price: $12.99

I use Apple Cider Vinegar for so many things.  I use it for cleaning, rinsing my hair, flea protection for my cats.  It’s best to use organic ACV that contains the “mother” or natural organisms.

I purchased this bottle to put in my spare bathroom.  I use it for cleaning.  I also use it when bathing my cats.  It helps heal their skin from scratches and to prevent fleas.  I prefer to use natural products whenever I can.

I’ve used this a few times on my hair as a rinse and on my cats and it has worked fantastically.  I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV).

DermaChange Organic Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner Set

General Overview:

The product is excellent.  It has lasted a long time despite the small size.  The price is a bit high for such a small set.  If you can make it last as long as I have then it seems less expensive.

I purchased the small 4oz. size of DermaChange shampoo and conditioner set to try it out. I have curly/wavy hair that tends to be oily at the follicle and dry on the ends.  This set of hair care products works pretty well on my hair. Note: I also have long hair and tend to use more conditioner than shampoo.

Product Name: DermaChange Thick and Full Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner

Date Purchased: October 28, 2016

Current price: $24.99

Since it’s going to take me about 3 months to finish these bottles I estimate that my price per month is about $8.33 or about $4.17 per bottle.  This is about average price for a decent bottle of shampoo/conditioner.

If you can make this last as long as I have it’s totally worth the price but if you must wash your hair more often and use more of the product this may seem a bit pricey.  Despite what seems like a high price you get what you pay for.  If you want to use quality products then you may have to pay more to get something more natural and to avoid the chemicals.

How long do the bottles last? – I’ve had these about 2 months this week and they are not empty.  I can probably make it last at least another month.

How often do I wash my hair: 1-2 times per week.  As little as I can get away with.  No….it doesn’t smell gross. You can ask me later about the “No Poo” movement. 🙂

Is my hair fuller or healthier? – I can’t determine if it is any fuller of if it has caused any missing hair to regrow.  I can tell you the texture of my hair is smoother and less dry.  I also think it helps my hair to grow faster.  I had my hair cut in the beginning of December and it’s already grown about 1/2″.

Will I purchase this product again? – I would certainly consider it.  I’ve really been enjoying trying new things.  I really like it being part of my hair washing routine to infuse vitamins and nutrients into my hair.

Dove Dry Spray 48h Antiperspirant

Rating: 1 out of 5 Skulls

9c5afa07a817550713dfdf45704da7dd

Today I received a new product from Walmart’s sample program.  It’s a new antiperspirant spray.  The smell is “Cool Essentials” and it features a light green lid on a white bottle with a slice of cucumber on the bottle.  It claims to be a dry spray that lasts up to 48 hours.  It also claims to be non-irritant.

I happen to be allergic to most deodorants and antiperspirants.  I often wear the clear jell antiperspirant that is hypo-allergenic.  I can’t even get away with just wearing deodorant because I’m actually sensitive to my own sweat. I can wear Tom’s and the clear stuff and that’s all I’ve been able to wear for years without incurring a nasty rash breaking out.

I tend to use more natural products so of course I’m not thrilled to read the back of this bottle to see the active ingredients and various other warnings and chemicals.

Active Ingredient: Aluminum Chlorohydrate  – 20.2%

Inactive Ingredients: Butane, Hydroflurocarbon 152a, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isobutane, PPG-14 Butyl Ether, Fragrance, Sunflower Seed Oil, Disteardimonium Hectorite, C12-14 Alkyl Benzoate, Propane, BHT, Octyldodecanol, Propylene Carbonate, Dimethiconol, Tocopheryl Acetate

Warnings:

  • Flammable
  • Keep away from mouth and face and avoid breathing it in.
  • Avoid spraying in eyes (You know they have warnings for a reason….).
  • Do not puncture or incinerate – Contents under pressure
  • Do not use on broken skin, discontinue use if a rash or irritation occurs.
  • Ask a doctor before using if you have kidney disease (what’s in this?).
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Use only as directed.

Directions: apply to underarms only.

After I shower and shave in the morning I plan to use this spray to see exactly how it stands up to the test.

I applied the antiperspirant spray after I took my shower.  Honestly, I’m not crazy about how chemical it smells.  Now that I’m used to more natural or unscented products it’s hard to tolerate such an artificial smell.

I was really concerned that I would have an allergic reaction but luckily I did not develop the normal rash I get from other deodorants or antiperspirants.  It seemed to hold up well during the day.  My work team went to a miniature theme park where I rode go-karts and played laser tag.  The Dove Dry Spray held up well.

The next morning I woke up to find that I was still mostly dry, with no rash, however I was a bit sticky.   I wasn’t able to wear it for the full 48 hours.  I’m honestly not sure it would have held up that entire time, especially if I was active.

I’m giving the Dove Dry Spray 1 out of 5 Skulls.   I’m not a fan and I happily went back to my clear, unscented, gel antiperspirant today.  I think someone less sensitive and plans on going 48 hours without bathing would love this product.

Maple Holistics Sage Shampoo Anti-dandruff

Rating: 4 out of 5 Skulls

I’ve been using this shampoo since the end of July 2016.  I often end up with dandruff and buildup on my scalp.  I also prefer hair products that are as close to natural as possible.  Before I started using this in my washing routine I was starting to get embarrassed by my scalp.  I looked like there was something wrong with me.  Seriously!

I started looking into “No-Poo.”  I started off with the baking soda wash and apple cider vinegar rinse.  This worked well for a while but then it got out of hand.  I learned that detoxing your scalp takes time. lol.

I only wash once every 4 days.  By the time I wash my hair it usually needs it badly.  This shampoo not only helps prevent dandruff but it also acts as a clarifying shampoo.  I find it leaves my hair feeling very clean and my scalp feels wonderful afterwards.

Now that I’ve been using this for a few months I often combine it with other natural shampoos I use.  I often use it first and let it sit on my scalp 2-3 minutes to allow the nutrients to sink in and then I wash a second time using my other concoctions.

It smells wonderful if you love mint and sage. I love it.  The only downside is it costs $12.95.  If you are not a daily washer it will last a lot longer.  I think I’m not even half-way through my bottle and I’ve had it since July.

I would definitively recommend this product!
